What NOT To Do Before Your Wedding

10/20/2019

With all the details and planning that have gone into your wedding, the big day should (hopefully) go off without any hiccups! There are a few things that you can do as the bride to ensure your celebration goes smoothly. The following are our top tips of things to NOT do the day of / weekend of your wedding.
Picture
  1. Don’t Stay Up Too Late – You may want to celebrate with your family, friends, and bridal party the night before but that’s probably not a good idea. Get a good night sleep and you’ll feel refreshed, bright, and ready for the wedding!
  2. Don’t Experiment With A New Beauty Routine – Trying out a new face wash/mask the night of or morning of your wedding is a big no-no. You have no idea how your skin will react to new facial products, so it’s best not to try out a new skin regimen so close to the wedding. Same goes for getting massages or waxes. Mani-pedis are best to have done one or two days before the wedding. Then you’ll only need to have your hair and makeup done the day of.
  3. Don’t Wear New Shoes Right Before The Wedding – If you plan on just wearing your wedding shoes the day of without breaking them in, then you’re feet are going to be hurting bad! Start wearing those wedding heels several weeks before the big day for an hour or two until they feel comfortable. Bringing a pair of comfortable shoes to change into later is a good idea too!
  4. Don’t Forget To Eat – Trust us when we say that you’re going to want to make sure you eat on your wedding day. You’re going to be busy on the day of your wedding. From going to the salon to mingling with your guests to taking tons of photos, there may be little time to eat. But it’s so important that you make time throughout the day to eat and keep your energy/mood up. Plus no one likes a hangry bride!
  5. Don’t Forget To Live In The Moment – Your wedding is one of the best days of your entire life. All the people you love are gathered together to celebrate you and your spouse. All the planning, details, and dreaming have become a reality. Take a step back to soak in those special moments throughout the day. Take time before you are officially married to reflect on all the events to happen. The day will go fast, so pause and enjoy all the hard work, beauty, fun, and love that’s happening on your wedding day.
  6. Don’t Stress – You are surrounded by people who would do anything to help make your wedding perfect. It will unfold beautifully no matter what, and in the end,  you’ll be happily married!

The big day is almost here and you’ve been dreaming of this moment maybe your entire life! As some brides start to realize that their wedding is only hours away, they start to become stressed and nervous. What should be an exciting, fun time for the bride is now filled with anxiety. Well, with it being National Relaxation Day, we’ve created a list of helpful ways for brides to enjoy their wedding day without any worries!
  • Sleep: Never underestimate the power of a good night sleep! Getting plenty of z’s the weeks leading up to your wedding day will have you feeling refreshed, energized, and looking well rested. Try going to bed early the night before your wedding as it may be harder to fall asleep right away with all the excitement and nerves you will have.
  • Pamper Yourself: Treating yourself to a massage, facial, or mani/pedi could be just what you need to help keep those nerves at bay. Make time for yourself and enjoy the present instead of thinking of everything that’s going to be happening the day of the wedding.
  • Calming music & scents: There’s something so relaxing about putting on a calming playlist and having your favorite scents fill the air. Create a playlist with your favorite songs or find a playlist that will soothe your stress while surrounding yourself with candles, diffusers, or natural oils of your favorite scents.
  • Do Some Prepping: Make sure you have anything you need to bring for getting ready packed ahead of time. You’ll feel less stressed as you will be prepared and don’t have to run around searching for items the morning of.
  • Exercise: This is a great outlet for letting out stress! Try going for a run, doing some yoga, or taking time to meditate to think about something besides your wedding to-do list. Stretching is also great the morning of your wedding to relax muscles, increase circulation, lower your heart rate, breathe deeper, and lessen any anxiety you may be feeling!
  • Have A Timeline: Have a timeline of when you’re getting your hair and makeup done, arriving to locations, getting dressed, etc. This will help keep you on track with what you should be doing and when. The feeling of being organized and on time can create a calming feeling as well as prevent you from rushing or running around.
  • Your Crew: Surround yourself with people who you find calming to be around. You want to feel comfortable, relaxed, and happy with whoever is going to be with you on your wedding planning journey (and the day of your wedding!)
  • Helping Hands: Say yes to people offering to help you with your planning. You don’t have to do it all yourself. When friends and family offer to assist you with your wedding, you’ll be grateful to have them. You could even delegate specific tasks to people if needed!
  • Hire Witt & Co. Events: We’re ready to plan your wedding from start to finish! Did you know that 50% of couples spend 10-20+ hours a week planning their wedding? That’s a lot of free time you’re giving up and a lot of extra stress you’re adding to your life. We want you to be stress free during this exciting time in your life. Focus on your relationship and let us worry about your wedding plans. As your wedding planner, we’ll oversee all the events that make your day so special, so you don’t have to!

Carolyn + Chris  |  Love in the Air in Green Bay

theyOh. My.
There are no words to describe Carolyn and Chris! They are such beautiful people, and it only makes sense because their families are equally as amazing. They are the perfect match made in heaven, or rather, the perfect match made in the air. Almost literally, y'all! (I may have spent too much time talking with this sweet Southern transplant!)

Chris and Carolyn happen to work for the same airline and somehow their paths crossed as Carolyn's plane landed in Baltimore. Thank goodness for that!! They were both sporting Packer lanyards and struck up a brief, yet memorable conversation before parting ways only to run into each other again that day! Carolyn left a note for Chris that said "Go Pack Go" and that may have sealed the deal. I'm sensing an underlying Packers theme here! Chris found her on Facebook and they carried on their conversations until they finally had a first date in Denver, CO.

Chris, originally from the East Coast, and Carolyn, originally from the West Coast, now live in the great state of Texas. So what's a couple to do when their families are on opposite sides of the county? Get married in Wisconsin, of course! Their mutual love of the Packers, and the "more" convenient, midwest Wisconsin destination meant a small, but mighty group of East- and West-coasters would descend on glorious Lambeau Field. We think they made a great choice!

Their busy schedules, compounded by living out of state, meant that they needed some help. After a last minute meet-up for coffee while they were in town to tour their venues, we set off to help them outline their budgetary priorities and come up with some fantastic design ideas. After that, we met monthly via video across the country to help them progress through their planning checklist. We lined up the best wedding professionals to pull off one fantastic celebration! Take a look below!

Carolyn and Chris, we wish you endless years of celebration and you can be sure, we'll be cheering right along with you during every season of your marriage! Much love to you from Wisconsin!

    Meet Jo

Hi there! I'm Jo, a certified wedding planner and the owner of Witt & Co. Events in Neenah, Wisconsin. I'm a wife to my amazing husband and high school sweetheart Matt, a mama to our sweet little James, (and a Fur-mama to Scarlett and Charlie!)

I love creating and organizing beautiful weddings, obviously!
Most days you can find me lost in my computer editing client details, chatting with the best in the industry, and dreaming up new wedding visions. But on my off-days, you'll catch me out for a family walk along the trail, drama binge-watching, chasing James, or simply relaxing in our little piece of backyard country paradise!
