Summer is officially here! The season brings blue skies, sunshine, colorful flowers, and…heat. Don’t get us wrong, we love the warm summer months in Wisconsin (sure beats the subzero temperatures in January)—but the hot weather can be a lot to handle on your wedding day. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, the last thing you need is sweat-soaked dresses and tuxes, melted makeup, deflated hairstyles, or guests roasting in the sun. That’s why we’ve come up with some great ideas to keep you, your bridal party, and guests feeling cool on your wedding day when the weather is extra hot!
Kristin and Paul... Such a lovely duo!
Read on for just a few of their wedding day details and some stunning photos from Emily Steffen Photography!
They chose to be married and party the August night away at one of the most breath-taking properties I have ever seen, Rondele Ranch in Harshaw, WI! Amidst a sprawling tree line, friends and family watched as Kristin and Paul tied the knot under a traditional white gazebo on the lawn between the property's lodges. (Although their pup and honorary ring bearer, Winston, may have stolen the show!) Oh the little tux, you guys!
A bright white sailcloth tent was brought in and decorated to the nines by Evolutions in Design. They used fresh flowers along with freshly cut tree branches... (Yes, you read that right! Off Randy went into the forest, lumberjack style!) .... and created an elegant garden dining experience. Navy blue table linens grounded the design against the stark white tent and hanging, crystal chandeliers.
The day was captured by both Emily Steffen Photography and videographer friend, Casey Huxtable.
And let me tell you....Guests were treated at literally every corner!
From the comfy cocktail lounge and yard games, to a feast of appetizers between the ceremony and reception. Dinner was impeccably plated by Urban Street Bistro, and a delicious cake was served up for dessert from Sugar 'n Spice Cheesecakes. Later in the night, guests were blown away by an incredible fireworks display, danced the night away with the Michael Walters Orchestra, and indulged in some late night WI comfort foods from the Urban Street Bistro food truck and a gourmet s'mores bar curated by the bride herself!
In return, and as a complete surprise to noone (EXCEPT the Bride and Groom), Kristin's sisters gave the most incredible Maids of Honor speech ever "danced," with a little help from everyone in attendance!
Kaitlyn and Kendra introduced their choreographed moves by telling Paul that Kristin "will always be there for you no matter what, and will support you in everything you do, even if that means showing off some dance moves..."
They danced. The wedding party joined in. And then this magic happened! Enjoy!
It was truly an amazing day with the Hilgemann and Lundine families! And we wish Kristin and Paul nothing but the very best in their many years ahead!
Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Lundine!

Mark and Annie were my very first clients, ever! I couldn't have hand-picked a more pleasant, trusting, or sweet couple to work with! In fact, I have never met a sweeter family, seriously! (And we all know it comes straight from Mama Jane!) Annie, the only daughter in the family is fiercely loved by her parents and brothers, but thankfully they welcomed Mark into Annie's life early on, as they seem to do with everyone they meet.
This pair met in 2003 at one of Marks band practices, but it wasn't until New Year's Eve 2011 that they became "Annie + Mark." Eventually, they took a 2-month long trip and traveled Europe in 2015. And you guessed it, that's where Mark proposed!
I met numerous times with Annie, Mark, and her parents to guide them through their planning, and the wedding proved to be one of the most relaxed yet beautiful wedding days of my career!
Their laid-back personalities meant an outdoor, backyard reception complete with a vintage furniture, a canoe full of refreshments, wooden tables, and some incredible dance moves.
But before the party started at Annie's parents' house, they tied the knot around the block at "The Lakehouse." The Lake House is a very special place to the Johnson family; it was the home of Annie's late grandparents. A total step back in time. There was velvet wall paper, the coolest antiques, shag carpeting, and each room essentially had it's own color scheme. It sure was dreamy for this vintage-loving gal! They were married out back, along a pristine peninsula that shot out into a bay of Lake Winnebago. Even though their grandparents weren't with them physically, you could feel their presence. Everyone wore pink in her Grandfather's honor, and just before the ceremony, Annie read a letter penned by him, especially for her wedding day. I could cry thinking about how touching that moment was with her mother.
After the ceremony, Annie and Mark, along with their wedding party and guests, paraded around the block, back to the reception. A surprise gesture by the neighborhood greeted us as we rounded the corner. Their neighbors had lined the street's mailboxes with decorations to add to the festivities. Cocktails, followed by one amazing family-style dinner, concluded with the most heartfelt and engaging toasts, And not easily forgotten, some intense tears of laughter. From that point on, it was one giant party and they danced the night away.
It was truly an amazing weekend and we left feeling a part of their family forever.
Thank you for including us in such a momentous celebration, Johnson and Mentele families. Annie and Mark, it was one of the greatest days of career, and I certainly hope it was only the beginning of one of the greatest love stories of all time. Congrats to you both! May your many days together only grow sweeter as the years go by.
