In the final days, (that's right...like 2 days) before the wedding, John and Suzi were packing up their house and moving across the state. I don't even want to know how many miles this couple put on in the final week!
It all started over a game of pool and a first date at Koreana in 2005. Ten years after their first date, John proposed to Suzi at Apostle Islands Ice Caves in 2015, and they celebrated their marriage this past August 5th!
We met early on a Saturday morning to make a plan for their ceremony and reception decor. After finishing off our morning Starbucks, we shopped the Oshkosh Event Rental showroom and thoughtfully chose a few key areas to highlight throughout their wedding venue - Brighton Acres!
When it came to setting up that morning we created some truly stunning displays at the venue entrance, in the barn, and in the reception hall!
(That altar....Makes my heart flutter!)
One of John and Suzi many shared hobbies is fishing. They incorporated subtle fishing details throughout their wedding. A full size canoe held dozens of water bottles in the courtyard and Kerrigan Brothers Winery carved an incredible fish out of a block of cheese during the cocktail hour. Their favors were colorful fishing lures, and not to forget, dirt cake and cheese-y Goldfish crackers for the kiddos.
With a rain cloud on the horizon, we hurried guests into the barn just in time for the wedding party to stand under the building's awning and watch the storm pass through, minutes before the ceremony.
There is nothing as heart-wrenching as a crying ringbearer! Cameron, such a sweet boy... was a wreck while we waited.
And Elli may have forgotten to throw her flower petals, but BRIDESMAIDS TO THE RESCUE! The bride's most trusted ladies sprung into action and donned the aisle with petals just before the bride and her step father walked in.
Every part of their ceremony was beautiful and no one would have ever known that Suzi's wedding band was missing when the time came to exchange rings!
Even though it was a little cloudy, WE CAN ALL THANK THE SMALL GLIMMER OF SUN for shining at just the right second to glisten off Suzi's wedding band, and catch my eye as we walked out of the ceremony! (Whew!) And the day was saved!
Three Guys and A Grill arrived early in the morning to cook all day long. They set up shop with their smokers right next to the courtyard for guest to enjoy the sights and smells of their dinner being prepared.
Suzi cake table was created out of authentic whiskey barrels and an antique wooden door for guests to see just as they entered the dinner hall. As a very special touch, Suzi used her grandmother's crocheted table cloth underneath a delicious cake from Cake Anatomy which incorporated an edible barnboard image on the middle tier.
Suzi's mom, was a talented baker in a past life. So she donned her adorable apron and got to work after dinner! It was a treat for guests to have their dessert served up by such a sweet and wonderful momma! (I caught her mid slicing and got some pretty cute...and messy photos.)
As a final surprise for the night, Suzi and John opted against the "traditional" late night pizzas and ordered dozens of Taco Bell tacos!
And that, my friends, is always a sign that is was a good night!
John and Suzi,
We were so honored to have a part in making your day the most amazing day of your lives together so far. We wish you the best in your marriage and may every year after this only get better!
Cheers to Celebrating!
